National Health Programs

Chronic diseases may cause morbidity and mortality to the affected population. Some chronic diseases cause more morbidity than mortality. Life with a disability leads to a loss of equilibrium in all aspects of the life of an individual. Adjusting with a chronic disease of morbidity or impending death is the core point of intervention in palliative care. Introduction to the palliative care policy also strengthens the health care sector of the state to serve more in the area of concern. This online training program provides an account of knowledge regarding the palliative care services and palliative care program in Kerala. This will help the health care workers in building confidence in rendering care for the needy people in their respective areas.

This short course deals with the organization and implementation of mental health program in Kerala. Kerala is the state organizing different targeted interventions and various specific programs in mental health care. The training will commence by a Pre test and after the video session the participants should undergo Post test and scoring of above 50% in post test will lead to the awarding of certificates.  

The programme has envisaged to provide promotional, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services in an integrated manner for the Elderly in various Government health facilities. The range of services will include health promotion, preventive services, diagnosis and management of geriatric medical problems (out and in-patient), day care services, rehabilitative services and home-based care as needed.

 National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCBVI) was launched in the year 1976 with the goal to reduce the prevalence of blindness from 1.4% to 0.3%.The course session explains regarding the operationalization and concept of NPCBVI in Kerala state. The training starts with the pre test session and participant can forwarded to the video lecture sessions. After the video lecture sessions, the participant can attend the post session test. Scoring of above 50% will lead to the awarding of the certificate.

This training gives and account of idea regarding National family health program and RTI/STI control programs which are focused to maternal and child health.Control of STI/RTI is an important component of the NACP; during NACP IV, the programme aimed to provide universal, comprehensive and standardized quality STI/RTI services at all health care facilities to all population groups with special emphasis on HRG population and vulnerable groups.

The Vision of the programme is to develop healthy and informed adult human capital by promoting physical and mental health through childhood and adolescent. The main objective of the programme is to identify incipient diseases, disorders and disability by adequate and timely action and to become the anchor of promotive and preventive health. 

The short training program explains regarding National leprosy eradication program.  The NLEP’s mission is to provide quality leprosy services free of cost to all sections of the population, with easy accessibility, through the integrated healthcare system, including care for disability after cure of the disease. 

The process of disease surveillance and early interventions in prevention and control activities are the back bone of primary health care in the state. This training was designed to empower the health care team members in primary health care in IDSP program implementation. 

Vector borne diseases are the one of the major public health burden in India and Kerala. Through the implementation of the National vector borne disease control program state can control various disease included in the specific category. Control strategies of the vector borne diseases are extending up to the environmental level. 

Tuberculosis is the one of the identified killer communicable diseases across the world. With the development of various health strategies India also developed a well-defined strategy in prevention and management of TB. This training program was developed in association with the various trainings associated with the NQAS processing. 

The course was designed to create and update knowledge regarding National AIDS control program among health care team members in family health centers, primary health centers and community health centers.The implementation of the National AIDS control program in primary health care levels are carried out through the various primary health care institutions such as Primary health centers, Family health centers and community health centers.  

The course was indented to give a short training regarding National tobacco control program to the health care team members in primary health care sector in Kerala. Tobacco is identified as the considerable contributor in cause of death in India and Kerala. 

This course deals with the Different non communicable diseases, strategy of Kerala state in managing NCDs, specialized disease control programs, Different heath care schemes and projects, NCD health care services in various levels of health care institutions, guidelines in management of different diseases, operation guidelines of NCD clinics etc.

India has implemented several national health programs to improve the health and well-being of its citizens.
